Our Story
Owned and operated by husband and wife, Joe and Aleisha, Nightshade® is Seattle’s first hybrid tattoo and plant shop.
Joseph McSween established Nightshade®️ Tattoo in Seattle, Washington over 11 years ago. The name Nightshade came about because he specializes in black and grey tattoos as a colorblind artist. It wasn’t until 2019 that Nightshade Tattoo branched out and expanded its business through the art of nature by providing house plants to clients at local markets and their online store. Once the pandemic hit and so many small businesses were closing permanently, they decided to go all in and start construction on a brick and mortar in their neighborhood to help revitalize the area and to house their hybrid shop. Collectively Aleisha and Joe collaborated and formed Nightshade, a plant shop and tattoo studio.
The idea of Nightshade started by wanting to increase creativity and art through the form of green spaces. It has been stated that both nature and art improve mental and emotional health. “We hope to spread these green spaces by providing a variety of unique and rare botanicals to your home. Also by allowing a space to release your creativity through the form of tattoos.”
Our Philosophy
While appreciating Mother Earth’s gifts we like to make sure we’re leaving as little to no carbon footprint as possible. All of our packaging supplies are made with recycled materials and are biodegradable. Once you have received your plant please make sure you compost everything that came with it to help regenerate soil and leave less in our landfills.
